The Specialist program in Oriental languages has been offered at the Institute of Linguistics since 2014. It involves a thorough training in two languages. The first language is Oriental (Chinese, Japanese or Korean), the second is English. Oriental languages are learned from the absolute beginner level.
A distinctive feature of the program is the fundamental nature of linguistic training, comprehensive education in humanities with a constant view on the changing labor market.
You will be able to work as translators and interpreters in any field: cultural, entrepreneurial, socio-political, academic, educational, etc. Translating and interpreting support is routinely required to accompany professional activities in law, economics, management, advertising, marketing, business and manufacturing.
You will also be able to work as foreign languages teachers.
You will have a language internship opportunity: senior students (as part of the academic mobility program) can apply for a semester at leading Oriental universities of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
The Institute of Linguistics holds an annual conference on translation and interpreting, organizes meetings with translators and publishers, including lectures read by foreign experts. The annual conference includes a student contest for beginner translators.
