This program successfully competes with philology majors at other universities. It is a unique educational product, in which a systematic study of history and theory of literature is combined with comprehensive historical and cultural studies, as well as with an in-depth study of two or more foreign languages. In addition, the educational concept of the Institute of Philology and History represents the first attempt in the history of Russian higher education to implement a comprehensive program of teaching history, literature, languages and cultures based on broad comparative studies, by combining the historical and the cultural national phenomena in the educational process.

Key disciplines of the program: one foreign language, history and literature of the country of specialization, theoretical linguistics related to the chosen foreign language, literary theory, history of Russian literature.
