The program is unique to Russian higher education. Our theoretical and practical training makes our students capable of solving a wide range of issues in the field of theoretical folklore and cultural anthropology. The core curriculum includes classes in principles of organizing oral traditions, semiotics of folklore texts and practices, structures, mechanisms of mythological thinking and ritualized behavior, etc.

Areas of occupation: research institutes and analytical centers; educational organizations engaged in; organizations tasked with preserving cultural and natural heritage of different levels; mass media.
Ph.D. studies comprise two tracks: 45.06.01 Linguistics and literary criticism, 10.01.09 Folklore studies.
