The protection of individual rights and freedoms in the field of criminal law relations is an important area in the international and Russian theory of law and law enforcement practice, since it acts as a universally recognized international tool in the fight against illegal, unjustified deprivation or restriction of the inalienable rights and freedoms of man and citizen, which in turn necessitates the training of legal professionals in this area.
The program will allow graduates to gain conceptual knowledge of the notion, content, guarantees and legal ways of protecting individual rights within the framework of criminal law relations at the Russian and international levels, as well as acquire and master the skills and abilities to carry out human rights activities defending individual rights and freedoms of a person involved in the field of criminal law relations.

Key disciplines of the program. The disciplines of the general academic and professional cycle allow undergraduates to acquire a unified system of professional knowledge in the field of law, as well as master the pertinent methodology, which allows to professionally carry out criminal law protection of individual rights in modern conditions. The students study modern issues of protecting individual rights in international and Russian criminal law (especially the qualifications and investigation of crimes against the individual), criminal liability: issues of theory and practice as related to human rights in international and Russian law, theory and practice of counteracting crime, rights of individuals in the process of executing criminal sentences, protection of constitutional rights of an individual in criminal law, international criminal law, etc.
