This course is dedicated to the analysis of visual texts of culture created in modernist and contemporary art. The course demonstrates a set of ideas and concepts that were formed in the XX century within the framework of various art trends of modern and postmodern, as well as to show the breadth and variability of research, methodological tools formulated in modern humanitarian knowledge and used for the analysis of various types of modern and relevant artistic material. The course includes discussion and analysis of both the main theories of visual art of the XX-XXI centuries and its practices. An important characteristic of the course is the demonstration and application of various methodologies used in modern art history and theory: philosophy and anthropology of the image, psychoanalysis, semiotics of visual narratives, phenomenology of perception of visual arts.
