This course analyzes modern media of Great Britain and the USA. Within the course, students study top modern theories and media practices. The discipline is aimed at understanding of the most vivid peculiarities that characterize modern media.
Students familiarize themselves with fundamental principles of semiotic analysis, including denotation and connotation, as well as text forms, codes and conventions to reflect the cultural, social, historical and political contexts in which they are produced. Analysis of media samples relies upon a complex approach and is accompanied by studies of necessary theoretical materials, practical analysis and discussion.
