English Stylistics in Translation and Interpreting
The course emphasizes the importance of stylistic competence as part of overall language competence of would-be translators. Students taking the course are introduced to the system of expressive means and functional styles of the English language, as well as furnished with linguo-stylistic concepts, tools and methods of text analysis. Through close-reading and analyzing texts of different stylistic and pragmatic types(fictional and non-fictional) students learn to identify stylistically relevant text features and take note of stylistic parameters of texts in question to enhance the translation quality.
