The course of English lexicology is aimed at raising students’ awareness of the notion of the word, it focuses on the fundamentals of the word theory and deals with the main problems associated with English vocabulary, its characteristics and subdivisions. The course embraces both theoretical foundations of English lexicology and practical exercises, the two parts being integrated. It encourages students to develop their skills in empirical work, for example, dictionary analysis.
