The visit of attaché for culture of the United Mexican States Embassy to the Russian Federation into the RSUH

On the 1st of February, 2007, vice-rector for the International activity, I.V. Karapetyants met with attaché for culture of the United Mexican States Embassy to Russia Rodrigo Asaola and director of Y.V. Knorozov Mesoamerican research center G.G. Ershova in the Office for International activity in the RSUH.

The visit of attaché for culture of the United Mexican States Embassy to the Russian Federation into the RSUH

On the 1st of February 2007 vice-rector for the International activity, I.V. Karapetyants met with attaché for culture of the United Mexican States Embassy to Russia Rodrigo Asaola and director of Y.V. Knorozov Mesoamerican research center G.G. Ershova in the Office for International activity in the RSUH.

The parties discussed the development of scientific and educational cooperation between the university and educational institutions in Mexico. Rodrigo Asaola made a proposal to hold joint the RSUH cycle videoconferencing on "History and Culture of Mexico". The coming on-line project is expected to start from the 26th of February, 2007, in conjunction with the Institute for new educational technologies and informatization. The Principal audience will be presented by students and postgraduates of Y.V. Knorozov Mesoamerican research center, as well as students of MSU, the Institute of Latin America Academy RAS, Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages, devoted to the study of Spanish and Mexican history.

Professors of the largest universities such as the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico College, the Mor’s Institute and the Ibero-American Institute will speak to Russian students. They will deliver 11 lectures on the history of Mexico’s pre-Columbian period, the history of Indian tribes and nations, the history of the Mexican Revolution; they will touch upon the problems of modern Mexico, the country's foreign policy, history of its language, culture and the arts. At the end of each lecture listeners will be able to ask questions on topics that interest them. The publication of lectures’ texts and edition of multimedia course will be as a result of the holding of the on-line project.

During the meeting I.V. Karapetyants denoted the importance of the forthcoming project as for Mesoamerican research center of the RSUH, and also for the expansion of bilateral relations between Russia and Mexico in whole. She highly appreciated the RSUH’s interest in the project and stressed that videoconferencing will be useful not only in educational, but also will contribute to the development of new joint projects.

In conclusion the two sides expressed the hope that the RSUH and the Mexican Embassy will continue to promote the development of partnership between our countries.
