On September 20, the eighth congress of the all-Russian public organization "Russian Society of Historians and Archivists" took place at RSUH, where the results of the 5-tear period were summed up and the members of the Board of the Central Council was elected.
Dr. Andrei Artizov, head of Rosarkhiv, Dr. Oleg Naumov, Deputy Head of Rosarkhiv, the representatives of RSUH, as well as heads and employees of federal archival institutions and archival management bodies of the Russian Federation took part in the Congress.
Rector Bezborodov greeted the participants and expressed gratitude to the Board for holding the Congress at RSUH.
“It is a great honor for RSUH to host the VIII Congress of the Society. The Institute of History and Archives is closely connected with it. We are making great efforts so that the Institute and the Society create new innovative products, while participating in the educational process and research activities," said Alexander Borisovich.
Rector also noted that the Society acted as a liaison between institutions of higher education and archival organizations of various administrative levels.
Dr. Andrei Artizov addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He positively assessed the contribution of the members of the Central Council to the formation of objective knowledge base concerning the events of Russian history, and the holding, including at the international level, of academic and educational events thus increasing the prestige of the profession of archivist.
The main item on the agenda was the report of Dr. Efim Pivovar, Chairman of the Board of the Central Council of the Society, President of RSUH, in which he summed up the results of the work of the Central Council of the Society for the period since the VII Congress of the Society in Samara.
Dr. Pivovar spoke about the work in the academic, educational and social directions of the Society according to its statutory activities from 2016 to 2021.
“During this period, the Central Council of the Society has held a number of significant events in the academic and educational fields. We are actively involving students in working with archives, we have implemented projects and won grants. The tasks set earlier were fulfilled with the support of Rosarkhiv,” stressed the President of RSUH.
The heads of the archives departments in the districts of the Russian Federation spoke about the results, prospects and other aspects of the work of regional branches and grassroots organizations of the Society.
Dr. Oleg Naumov, in connection with the successful results of the work of the Board the Society, nominated the following experts for a new five-year term: President of RSUH Efim Pivovar for the position of the Chairman of the Board , Dr. Grigory Lanskoy (RSUH) - for First Deputy Chairman of the Board, Rector Bezborodov, Dr. Vladimir Tarasov (Head of the State Military Archive) and Dr. Andrey Yurasov (Deputy Head of the Federal Archival Agency)– for Deputy Chairmen of the Board.
Dr. Pivovar nominated candidates for the election to the Board and the Central Council of the Society. The delegates unanimously voted in favor of the candidates.
Concluding the meeting, President Pivovar presented awards to the participants of the Congress who had made the greatest contribution to the activities of the Central Council of the Society in 2016-2021.
The honorary badges of the Russian Society of Historians andArchivists were awarded to Dr. Natalia Kalantarova, Director of the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents, and Dr. Vladimir Tarasov, Head of the Russian State Military Archive.
Certificates of Honor of the Society were awarded to Dr. Tatyana Khorkhordina, Head of the Department of History and Organization of Archival Affairs of RSUH, Dr. Grigory Lanskoy, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Methodology of RSUH, Dr. Filip Taratorkin, Dean of the Faculty of Archival Science and Records Management of RSUH, Dr. Diana Galieva, Associate Professor of the Department of History of State Institutions and Public Organizations of RSUH, Dr. Nikolai Zelov, Head of the Archives of RSUH and Dr. Zinaida Inozemtseva, member of the editorial board of the Archivist Bulletin.
