On the 1st of July, 2008, a grand opening ceremony of the French applied art exhibition "The Violet Street… from Paris to Moscow" took place at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Applied and folk art. The Russian State University for the Humanities took part in organizing and holding the exhibition under the joint project with the Embassy of France to Russia.
On the 1st of July, 2008, a grand opening ceremony of the French applied art exhibition "The Violet Street… from Paris to Moscow" took place at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Applied and folk art. The Russian State University for the Humanities took part in organizing and holding the exhibition under the joint project with the Embassy of France to Russia.
The exhibition presented works of famous artists, sculptors, engravers, jewellers, restorers, cabinetmakers and decorators of France. Also a personal photo exhibition by Galina V. Volkova, the director of the "Art Design" department of the Russian State University for the Humanities, was presented on the exhibition.
Guests of the exhibition were greeted by the Ambassador of France to Russia, Stanislav de Labule, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Mass Communications, Busygin AE, the well-known French restorer of porcelain and ceramics, Jean-Claude Giyemo, other prominent public and cultural figures.
The Rector of the RSUH, Efim I. Pivovar, made a welcoming speech. He stressed the great aesthetic and cognitive significance of the project. Efim I. Pivovar paid attention to the fact that the teaching by art means is an important goal of the modern University for the Humanities. Therefore the RSUH took an active part in organizing the exhibition, which promotes the consolidation of cultural and educational cooperation between Russia and France.
After finishing of the grand ceremony of the exhibition visitors familiarized with the exposition. A musical concert of classical French chanson took place at the conclusion of the ceremony.
