The legacy of the 20th century poets contemporaries of Genrikh Sapgir was discussed at RSUH

On November 19-20, 2021, RSUH hosted the International Conference "The 18th Sapgir Readings": "Sapgir and His Circle: Ten More Poets", which became a continuation of the 2020 forum, called "The Eight Greats".

The Conference was dedicated to the works of the ten leading Russian poets of the late 20th century. All presentations were divided into sections, each dedicated to one of the authors: Yan Satunovsky, Elizaveta Mnatsakanova, Viktor Krivulin, Vladimir Burich, Elena Schwartz, Dmitry Prigov and others.

The topics of the presentations were poetics of Elizaveta Mnatsakanova, organization of the narrative in the poetry of Joseph Brodsky, Viktor Krivulin and Nina Iskrenko. Other topics included the poetry of Yan Satunovsky and the concepts of children's literature, the auto-descriptive strategies of Arkady Dragomoshchenko and many more.

In total, there were 52 presentations, made by both the scholars of renown and students of universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The Conference was attended by some foreign scholars. Among the speakers there were representatives of universities and academic institutions of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Astrakhan, New York, Munich, Strasbourg, Pisa, Prague and Halle. A collective monograph will be published through RSUH Publishing House.

The Readings were traditionally organized by the Mandelstam Study Laboratory of the Institute of Philology and History of RSUH.
