Rector Efim Pivovar specifically noted the symbolism of the date – as it’s at 18 that young people join the University and are remembered by both classmates and teachers.

Dr. Pivovar also said that RSUH had been the first university in Russia with the words “Russian” and “Humanities” in its name. He went on to add that the University’s dynamic development would have been impossible without long tradition of both the Soviet/post-Soviet and pre-Revolutionary approaches to education that strove to combine the best from native and foreign academic experience.
