RSUH for the popularization of historical knowledge among young people

"A well-trained historian is in demand today in a variety of fields. Especially where analytics, ability of working with texts and identifying cause-and-effect relationships are required. Each participant in the Historical Media School is an important element of our overall structure," said Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky in his address to the participants of the Historical Media School.

RSUH is holding the Historical Media School for the third time, organized jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Russian Historical Society. In 2024, the event will be held from November 28 to 30 at Kazan Federal University, bringing together more than 70 students from 34 regions of Russia.

The key objective of the School is to help students and youngscholars understand how to convey the importance of historical heritage through media platforms.

"The School is our contribution to the historical education of young people. For the third year, young historians and journalists have been learning to talk about history online in a bright and interesting way. We wish good luck to all the teams, and may the strongest win! ", said Elena Barysheva, Dean of the History Department of RSUH.

The School's speakers share their experience in developing projects in social media. Maria Korovina, Director of the Department of Communications of RSUH, acted as one of the key speakers of the Media School with an open dialogue "Media Communications Today: Press Service or Outsourcing":

"Today, the main hurdle for a historian is the falsification of historical facts. We understand that history knows no “ifs”. And media communications are your method of shaping public consciousness in the context of restoring historical truth. Therefore, as historians and media professionals, you must be able to work with the audience in such a way as to form a true picture of the past with the help of the important historical, social, political, socio-humanitarian content that you want to convey."

The participants work in 10 groups of 7 people. Each team, under the guidance of experts, develops and promotes its ownunique project dedicated to important topics of Russian history: from the greatness of Russia and the Russian people to the importance of preserving historical memory.
