Revealing the history of BRICS: the key to understanding the experience of the past and present

On October 17, TASS hosted a press conference dedicated to the release of the new publication "The BRICS Interstate Association. Pages of History and Modernity" with the participation of RSUH experts Efim Pivovar and Nikita Filin.

The publication "The BRICS Interstate Association. Pages of History and Modernity", edited by Dr. Pivovar, is dedicated to the history of the formation and development of the BRICS association. This is the first comprehensive analysis of all the stages of the formation of the Intergovernmental Organization, starting with the first steps in the creation of BRICS and ending with the event of the present day. The work presents the most important events and trends in the field of politics, finance, economic cooperation, humanities and cultural diplomacy.

The book contains a separate section with area studies essays on BRICS member countries, many sources for which were introduced into academic circulation for the first time. The text contains comprehensive overview of culture, history, geography, politics and economy of Brazil, Egypt, India, Iran, China, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.

"In addition to academic and educational work, our publication carries out important educational activities for the younger generation. Each of the BRICS civilizations has a rich and unique culture that we must respect and whose values ​​​​we must cherish in order to build effective cooperation," noted Dr. Pivovar.

The speakers mentioned a possible upcoming publication of Volume II in 2025 describing the next Summit. It will be held in Kazan on October 22-24, 2024, and will bring together the leaders of more than 20 countries. Since Russia is holding the presidential position in BRICS in 2024, the country plans to hold over 200 economic, innovative, and cultural events.
