Lecture by Mr. Jean-Arthure Regibeau, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium in the RF “The EU and Russia in search for mutual understanding”
The event took place November 2017, with students of RSUH, MGIMO and MSU attending.
Before the lecture, Ambassador Regibeau and Counselor Cranes met with Vice-Rectors Zabotkina and Pavlenko and other RSUH officials. The talks touched upon cooperation with Belgian universities as well as joint research and educational projects.
In his lecture Mr. Regibeau touched upon the stereotypes the world has of the Russians and ways to combat them; he also said that despite the economic sanctions, the trade between the countries in on the rise. He asserted that both Belgium and Russia had always been similar in trying to resolve any conflict peacefully due to the sad experience the countries had had in the course of long and bloody wars.
Mr. Regibeau concluded by saying that Belgium was undoubtedly an attractive place for Russian students enrolled in joint programs.
