International conference "Recurrence" as a phenomenon of culture"

An International conference "Recurrence" as a phenomenon of culture" took place on the 3d of September, 2008. It was organized by "The Russian anthropological school" Institute of the RSUH. Specialists from various cities of Russia, former Soviet Union and far-abroad countries took part in the Conference. The topics of discussion were the following: vocabulary and use of any linguistic means by the antique authors as well as writers of XIX-XX centuries; concept of time in science and literature; the theme of recurrence in the Soviet literature and art of 1920's.

An International conference "Recurrence" as a phenomenon of culture" took place on the 3d of September, 2008. It was organized by "The Russian anthropological school" Institute of the RSUH. Specialists from various cities of Russia, former Soviet Union and far-abroad countries took part in the Conference. I.A. Pilshikov (IWC MSU) devoted his report to the idea of recurrence and peculiarities of the language in the works of late Baratynskyi, M.U. Mikheev (Research Computing Center) spoke about the language specificity of M.A. Sholokhov on the basis of studying the text of the novel "And Quiet Flows the Don". MB Mailah (University of Strasbourg) described the features of the terminology in ancient Greek poetry by the example of Sappho poem. Head by the kinetic theory of gases of Computing Center RAS V.V. Aristov illustrated the problem of "time" in the view of exact science.

E.A. Papkova (MSIIR) introduced to the audience the series of "Recurrences" of "prodigal sons" in the works of Soviet writers of 1920's.

Statements by the director of "The Russian anthropological school" Institute of the RSUH, academician of RAS, V.V. Ivanov, excited the special interest. He spoke about the different types of "Recurrences" in literature - the authors' recurrences to the favorite characters and changes of their metaphorical significance, the characters' recurrences to the usual atmosphere after a long break caused by certain tragic circumstances. Special attention the reported paid to the topic of recurrence of a man to himself - to his memoirs, individual cases and periods of his life, his traumatic episodes, memorable events. 

International conference

"The myth of eternal discussion" discussed not only in the context of world literature, but also in terms of the modern science. V.V. Ivanov told about the research in the field neuropsychology, on the theory of time intervals of Velimir Khlebnikov and its confirmation, existing up to date, on similar ideas expressed by U.B. Yets. The phenomenon of déja vu had become the theme of a separate discussion.
