On March 17, 2023, the exhibition "Descendants of Kukulkan: Cultures of Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica" opened at the Sakhalin Regional Museum of Local Lore in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The exposition consists entirely of the collection of ancient Mexican art objects of the Museum Center of RSUH. For the first time, this collection has left the walls of the university to be exhibited in a museum.
The opening ceremony was attended by the delegation from RSUH consisting of Dr. Nika Lavrentyeva, Deputy Director of the Museum Center of RSUH, Dr. Yamasheva, Curator of the Mexican Art Exposition and Director of the Knorozov Multimedia Historical and Cultural Center, and others.
As part of the opening ceremony, the specialists of RSUH held a number of events, which included tours and a number of open lectures on various aspects of the life and development of the peoples of Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, academic research in this area and museum activities.
The exhibition "Descendants of Kukulkan" will remain in the Museum until the summer of 2023, after which it will be shown in regional museums.
