The Conference was opened by Dr. Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, who made a welcoming speech to the participants. Moreover, when training specialists in technical specialties, it is important to take into account not only the technical and technological parameters themselves, but also the changes that they entail for social development of all the countries of the world without exception. In order to provide modern high-quality technical education, engineering specialists need to form a broad outlook, an understanding of the humanities aspects of social development. Nikolai Dmitrievich expressed confidence that the Conference would become a platform for developing interdisciplinary approaches to the analysis and explanation of modern trends.

Within the framework of the plenary session on November 23, Dr. Elena Zenkina, Chair of the Department of World Economy at the Institute of Economics, Management and Law of RSUH, made a presentation "Modern communications in the globalizing information space”.

Dr. Zenkina noted that “the modern information space is characterized by an active and rapid formation of the network principle of interpersonal communications, which significantly changes the foundations of the communication process. Today, new technologies for creating information goods are being actively developed. IT and innovations are becoming the main commodities of the post-industrial economy. Currently, the mechanism of trade transactions with these types of intangible goods is changing fundamentally with people having the option to choose sources of information from a growing number of channels. This will ultimately leads to an increase in the informational openness of the world. The development of the Internet is followed by growth of interpersonal communications and this, in turn, changes the social structure of society. At present, it is very important to comprehend the modern changes that info-globalization entails.

The modern period in the development of international economic relations is caused by the transformation into the information economy: the formation of a new space of competition, new information processes. As a result, now the value of information in terms of the influence on public opinion is much higher than even the value of money."
