Award ceremony of the RSUH Olympiad for Schoolchildren

On April 23, 2023, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the RSUH Olympiad for schoolchildren was held in the Session Hall of the Academic Council of the University.

RSUH has been an active participant in the Olympiad movement for more than a quarter of a century. In the 2022/2023 academic year, the Olympiad was held in five subjects: foreign languages, Russian, history, literature, social studies.

The winners of the Olympiad were invited to receive awards at RSUH.

The ceremony was opened by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Rector Bezborodov. He said that he was glad to welcome the winners at RSUH.
“Some remarkable boys and girls took part in the Olympiad and showed excellent results. It is gratifying to see the best of the best in this hall. Many schoolchildren participate in the Olympiad several times and test themselves every year: they manage to cope with some tasks better. Something turns out to be more difficult than expected, but the most important thing is that you purposefully strive to study liberal arts subjects, get a quality education and realize your intellectual potential.”

The Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympiad, Vice-Rector Shkarenkov said:
“The Olympiad is about defining your calling; it helps you figure out who you want to be. The winners will have to make a serious choice. Ideally, if your profession coincides with your vocation, then life will be wonderful in every sense. We really want you to come to us at RSUH and provide you with the whole range of training in humanities."

Representatives of all federal districts of the Russian Federation, as well as 15 countries, including Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, France, South Ossetia and others, participated in the Olympiad.

The number of winners was over 350.

Professor Natalia Gvozdetskaya, Chairman of the Subject Committee for Foreign Languages, Head of the Department of English Philology of RSUH, said:
"I have no doubt that the participants of the Olympiad in English, German and French felt how foreign languages expand our understanding of the world. They allow you to better know the past, present, future. Acquaintance with foreign languages will strengthen the ideas about the direction in which our own culture and, in general, the Russian statehood should develop!"

Dr. Igor Sharonov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Russian Language, Head of the Russian Language Department of the Institute of Philology and History of RSUH, said:
“This year the Russian Language Olympiad was not easy. At the final stage, you had to solve very difficult tasks. Among the developers there were teachers who are members of the subject committee of the All-Russian Olympiad in the Russian language. The fact that you won it puts you on the same level as those who took first, second or third place at the All-Russian Olympiad.”

Dr. Pavel Lebedev, Representative of the Committee for History, Head of the Department of General History of RSUH, said:
“I am glad to greet the participants of the ceremony on behalf of those who prepared the history assignments and those who checked them. I sincerely congratulate the winners who coped with the tasks of both the qualifying and the final stages.”

Dr. Yuri Domansky, Chairman of the Committee for Literature, Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Historical Poetics of RSUH, said:
“It is gratifying that many schoolchildren have chosen to participate in the Literature Olympiad. We can say that for these people, literature is an art that requires extra attention, both emotional and analytical."

Dr. Roman Zarapin, member of the Committee for Social Studies, Professor of the Department of World History of the Faculty of History of RSUH, said:
“We understand that these students cannot be offered questions similar to those of last year, so the developers are looking for new, original forms. With these students, when they enter RSUH, it will be even more difficult for us to work, on the one hand, and more interesting on the other!”

As a gift, all the winners were given access to the electronic resources of the RSUH library. Dr. Batova, Director of the Library of RSUH, told the participants of the ceremony about the library.

The ceremony was broadcast on the RSUH youtube channel. You can watch it by clicking on the link.

Congratulations to the winners of the RSUH Olympiad for Schoolchildren!
