Dr. Yershova, Director of Knorozov Mesoamerican Center at RSUH, presented the Nobel laureate Rigoberta Menchu with the medal “Yuri Knorozov”

The event took place October 21 

The event took place October 21 at the International Mayan Culture Festival in Merida, Mexico. Rigoberta Menchu was awarded the medal for her efforts to preserve rights and culture of the Mayan Indians. This is the first instance of the medal being bestowed upon somebody.
