Summer Institute of RSUH: results of the first week

On July 31, in the Meeting Hall of the Academic Council of RSUH, a series of educational and cultural events was launched within the framework of a new historical and educational project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Federal State Academic Institution “Sociocenter” - “Summer Institute”

The main goal of the Institute is integration of academics and teachers from the CIS countries into the academic and educational environment of the Russian Federation, as well as the formation of a permanent effective platform for interaction between the research community of Russia and partner countries in integration processes in the Eurasian space. Researchers and teachers from leading academic and educational centers in Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were invited to participate in the project.

The first day was opened with a presentation by Professor Pavlenko “Achievements and priorities of humanities of RSUH.” The master class “Archaeology in Jericho: science, museum, education” was held by Dr. Leonid Belyaev, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of Archeology of Muscovite Russia at the Institute of Archeology, and Dr. Artem Silkin, Director of the Museum-Reserve “Island-city of Sviyazhsk” and Professor Svetlana Baranova, chief researcher of RSUH, jointly read a lecture on the topic “Not just a holiday. Restoration festival "Eagle - the royal bird", Sviyazhsk, 2023".

On the second day of work, Dr. Dmitry Surzhik, Associate Professor of GAUGN, gave a lecture “Preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War in the Eurasian space.” The lecture “History and culture of everyday life: modern trends in the study” was delivered by Dr. Anastasia Mayer, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History of GAUGN.

On the third day, the participants visited the Russian Historical Society, “Kribrum” and the “Community for Promoting the Preservation and Popularization of Russian Culture”. The students of the Summer Institute of RSUH took part in the dialogue platform “The Russian Abroad: Current Issues of Studying and Teaching in Higher Educational Institutions,” the speakers being Dr. Ruslan Gagkuev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, and Dr. Efim Pivovar, President of RSUH, member of the Council of the Russian Historical Society.

JSC "Kribrum" welcomed the guests with a master class "Analysis of information space in educational and research processes". Its presenters were Dr. Laima Lemer, General Director of Kribrum and Dr. Vladislava Kovalevskaya, Deputy Director of the Institute of Heritage and Modern Society of RSUH.

At the Mikhail Abramov Community for Promoting the Preservation and Popularization of Russian Culture, participants met with Dr. Alexander Avdeev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Vatican (2013-2023), Minister of Culture of Russia (2008-2012) and Dr. Alexander Piskunov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, member of the board of the Community for Promoting the Preservation and Popularization of Russian Culture.

The fourth day began with a visit to the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

After that, the students took part in a lecture-discussion “Interstate cooperation and integration processes in the Eurasian space - history and modernity,” moderated by Dr. Alexander Levchenkov, senior researcher at the Institute of Eurasian and Interregional Studies of RSUH. Dr. Alexander Gushchin, senior researcher at the Institute of Eurasian and Interregional Studies of RSUH, conducted a seminar “Interstate cooperation and integration processes in the Eurasian space - assessments and prospects.”

The fifth day started off with a workshop “Modern Archival Technologies” taught by Dr. Phillip Taratorkin, Dean of the Faculty of Archival and Document Science of RSUH. As part of the seminar “New forms of presentation of traditional sources on the history of the Great Patriotic War in the Eurasian space,” Dr. Mikhail Mukhin, senior researcher at the Institute of Eurasian and Interregional Studies of RSUH, answered questions concerning the study of such an important topic.
