International Congress “100 years of Russian formalism (1913-2013)”

The congress that marked the anniversary reflected the mark the formalism had made on various disciplines as well as the modern state of methodology of humanities.

Rector Pivovar said in his welcoming speech that the Russian formalism not only had paved the way for a leap in humanities but also had inspired the world academia to new research.

 The keynote speaker was Dr. Ivanov, RSUH professor, RAS member, noted linguist, historian, one of the founders of Tartu school of semiotics.  His presentation was on “The formal system and its interpretation in the 20th-21st centuries”.
