June 22, 1941 was one of the saddest dates in our history as it marked the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.
When preparing the series "Academic Regiment", we came across the memoirs of Mrs. Kuznetsova, former deputy director of the Institute of History and Archives.
“What was it like - the first day of the war ... …June 22, 1941 - the first day of the War. But on that day, somehow it did not fully dawn on us that it was actually a war.
At the Institute, they talked about it a lot. Some said that the war would be protracted, others said that it would end soon. In the meantime, classes were going on as usual with senior students taking state exams. But soon they began to send teachers and employees to the labor front near Moscow to install barriers and dig trenches.
.Then they began drafting students and letters would be coming from the front. From them we learned about the death of Mr. Avetisyan, the Komsomol leader.
The girls who lived in the dorm also began to go to the front. A third-year student, Ms. Zelenetskaya, was drafted into the special purpose ski detachment.
