Academic Regiment of RSUH

We are proud of the deeds of Mr. Nikolai Arsenin, Associate Professor of the Department of the History of the CPSU of the Moscow State Institute of History and Archives (now RSUH), and we would like to acquaint our readers with the most important episodes of his military biography.

Mr. Arsenin volunteered for the front in September 1941 (at the age of 18). He fought in the airborne troops, in the Kotovsky guerilla detachment, then he was sent to join the corps of General Dovator.

In 1943, he was awarded the medal "For Courage" for being one of the first to get into a village surrounded by the enemy and fought there, despite three wounds.

In February 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory III degree for fire support of units during the battle for Ostrozhanka.

Nikolai Arsenin contributed to the transfer of a group of sappers behind enemy lines to undermine the railway bridge. During the liberation of the city Mozyr he lost his right hand.
