Academic Regiment of RSUH: no one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten

Today we will introduce you to the history of a student of the Institute of History and Archives, Hero of the Soviet Union, Evgeny Trofimov (1920-1981).

Evgeny Trofimov studied at the Institute of History and Archives in 1938–1940. In 1939 he graduated from the school of snipers, and in early 1940 volunteered for the Soviet-Finnish war.

From the beginning of 1942, Mr. Trofimov served in the 730th Fighter Aviation Regiment, and from April 1943, he served in the 910th Air Defense Fighter Aviation Regiment.

He fought near Stalingrad and on the Kursk Salient, participated in the Korsun-Shevchenkov and Lvov-Sandomir operations.

On August 22, 1944, he was awarded the order of Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star.

By the end of the war, Major Trofimov had made 376 successful sorties; in 26 air battles he had personally shot down 17 and in a group 5 enemy aircraft. After the war, Yevgeny Fedorovich Trofimov continued to serve in the air force, flew jets and supersonic aircraft, graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1952, and since 1970 headed the Armavir Higher Military Aviation School.
