Dr. Boris Khavkin, Professor of the Institute of History and Archives of RSUH, Professor of the Academy of Military Sciences of the Russian Federation, told the audience about the monograph, the first steps in the profession, about his academic activities and work at the Institute of History and Archives.
The central event was the presentation of a new book by Dr. Khavkin “Nazism. Third Reich. The Resistance”, which collected works on the history of German Nazism, the Third Reich and the German anti-Hitler Resistance. The slogan "Always Remember!" (related to the atrocities of the Nazis, about the horrors of war) concerns not only the Germans, but all of us. This is what Dr. Khavkin writes about, building a bridge from the past to the present. He emphasized that the topic of the book had not lost its relevance: Nazism must not be forgotten, since it is necessary to prevent the revision of the results of the Second World War and the denial of the fact that the Nazis had committed a crime against humanity.
Dr. Khavkin tells the story of Rudolf Gernshtadt, who, before the War, headed the Soviet military intelligence station in Warsaw. Also in the book, the historian thoroughly studies the denazification of Germany in the post-war years.
