We continue the series of publications on the participation of students and teachers of the Institute of History and Archives in the Great Patriotic War with another biography, the story of student Mark Azletsky.
We have restored an important fact: in the course of research, it was found that on the Memorial Plaque in the building of the Institute of History and Archives (Nikolskaya Street), a mistake was made in the spelling of the initial: Azletsky M.E. (should be M.I.).
Mark Ivanovich Azletsky was born in 1918. Information about the place of his birth is vague: the city of Irkutsk is listed in the report on combat losses, and in response to a request from the Rector's office of the Moscow State Institute of History and Archives to the Sverdlovsk district military registration and enlistment office, the city of Moscow is indicated. The materials indicate that Mr. Azletsky had fought in the 161st tank brigade with the rank of deputy political leader until July 6, 1942 before when he was hospitalized due to a severe wound, from which he later died.
Mark Azletsky is mentioned in the book by Dr. Khorkhordina "Institute of History and Archives in the History of Russian Higher Education" (Moscow: RGGU, 2020)
