A meeting with Andrei Vavilov, the personal interpreter for Nikita Khrushchev, Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Gagarin, was held at the Institute of History and Archives of RSUH within the framework of the project "Meetings on Nikolskaya"
The meeting was attended by Rector Bezborodov, Dr. Taratorkin, Dean of the Faculty of Archiving and Documentation, as well as students of RSUH.
Mr. Andrey Vavilov was a diplomat and the interpreter for the top leaders of the USSR for several decades. He was familiar with many secrets of the Soviet era and knew how to keep them. He is the author of a number of books in Russian and English, publications in periodicals and professional diplomatic media.
Mr. Vavilov told the students about his life, about the specifics of his work with the top party and state leadership, the specificities of diplomatic interpreting in the USSR and shared his impressions of interaction with political figures of the Soviet period.
