On December 22, RSUH hosted an open lecture “A unique card index of evacuees during the Great Patriotic War, and the prospect of its academic use”, organized with the participation of the Student Seminar at the International Center for the History of the Holocaust and Genocides of RSUH.
The event was attended by Rector Bezborodov, Dr. Sergey Kobets, General Director of the Center for Search and Information of the Russian Red Cross, Dr. Valentina Voronkova, search specialist in the Center for Search and Information of the Russian Red Cross, Dr. Ilya Altman, Director of the International Center for the History of the Holocaust and Genocides of RSUH, students of RSUH.
The lecture was opened by Rector Bezborodov, who said that based on the documents of the organization, RSUH students would have the opportunity to conduct work related to archiving and the formation of an academic reference apparatus.
Dr. Ilya Altman said: “The index is the last database of Soviet people from the period of the Great Patriotic War that has not been introduced into academic circulation”.
After the welcoming speeches, Dr. Kobets held an open lecture, in which he spoke about the activities of the Center for Tracing and Information of the Russian Red Cross, the history of its creation, highlighted the key areas of current work: processing requests and looking for information related to the archive of the organization, search, restoration of family connections.
