On December 1, at the session of the Academic Council of RSUH, a solemn ceremony was held for presenting the diploma and gown of the honorary doctor of RSUH (Dr. HONORIS CAUSA) to Auxillia Mnangagwa, the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Hon. Natalya Bocharova, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation on Science, Education and Culture, Head of the Group for Cooperation between the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Zimbabwe Ms. Lyudmila Skakovskaya, Deputy Director of the Department of Africa of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mr. Andrey Stolyarov, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Science of Rossotrudnichestvo Ms. Natalya Mamaeva, Rector Bezborodov, members of the administration and students of RSUH
On behalf of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the ceremony was attended by the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe Auxillia Mnangagwa, and Mr. Mupanisi Dzapasi, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the Russian Federation.
The event was opened by Dr. Bezborodov, announcing that on November 29, by the decision of the Academic Council of the RSUH, Mrs. Auxillia Mnangagwa had been awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of RSUH (Dr. HONORIS CAUSA) in recognition of her high merits in supporting and developing academic and cultural ties between Russia and Zimbabwe,
Deputy Minister Natalya Bocharova highlighted the role of the First Lady in the field of charity, saying “Ms. Auxillia Mnangagwa is a unique person. She is the founder of the Angel of Hope charity foundation, which supports low-income families and provides assistance to women in difficult life situations.”
Ms. Lyudmila Skakovskaya expressed gratitude to Mrs. Auxillia Mnangagwa for her huge contribution to promoting cooperation and friendship between the two countries, for supporting the projects which contribute to increasing the interest in the Russian language and culture.
At the end of the ceremony, a film about the charitable activities of the First Lady was shown. The guests were also given a tour of the museums of RSUH.
