The conference was held May 30 – June 1 in Pushkin Art Museum and in RSUH. The event was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Pushkin Museum and also the opening of Shanyavsky Russian Public University. In her opening speech, Dr. Antonova, Director of Pushkin Museum, read the congratulatory telegram from Dr. Avdeev, Minister of Culture of the RF, and talked about the history of the Museum. Dr. Schmidt, head of the Center of Historical Regional Studies at RSUH, reminded everyone of the role the Shanyavsky family had played in the activities of the Public University. Dr. Bakanova, Dean of the School of Art History, unveiled plans to set up temporary exhibitions of Pushkin Museum art at RSUH.
