On July 22, a meeting of the University administration with Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghazali, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Russia, took place at RSUH.
From the side of the Republic of Sudan, the meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghazali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation, Mr. Hassan Mohammed Mahmoud Osman, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan and Abdelrahman Mohammed Hassan Mohammed, Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan.
RSUH was represented by Rector Bezborodov, Dr. Vera Zabotkina, Advisor to the Rectorate for International Affairs, Dr. Eleonora Kormysheva, Director of the International Center for the Study of Ancient Civilizations of Egypt and Sudan, Dr. Olga Trofimova, Head of the Department for International Relations of RSUH, Dr. Bashier Nizhud Hassan, Associate Professor of the International Golenishchev Research Center for the Study of Ancient civilizations of Egypt and Sudan and Dr. Zviadi Makhachashvili, a methodology specialist at the Golenishchev Center.
Rector Bezborodov stressed the importance of developing partnerships between RSUH and educational institutions of the Republic of Sudan.
During the meeting, a new cooperation agreement was signed between RSUH and the Abdul-Latif al Hamada University in Merov. In addition, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation that include opening a new International Center for the study and dissemination of the culture and history of Sudan.
“The new Center will not just be for students studying the history and culture of the Republic of Sudan. It will conduct research, in particular, that of underwater archeology,” said Rector.
Mr. Ambassador Mohammed Al-Ghazali emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation, in which students will be able to study the history and culture of the Sudanese people. For his part, he assured that he would support the projects of the Center.
Dr. Zabotkina, Adviser to the Rectorate for International Affairs, emphasized that the Center would be hosting open lectures of a cultural and educational nature on the history and culture of Sudan, available both from RSUH and other universities in Russia.
“This will be the only Center in Russia to popularize the culture of Sudan,” said Vera Ivanovna.
Dr. Eleonora Kormysheva, Director of the Center for the Study of Ancient Civilizations of Egypt and Sudan, noted the interest of RSUH students in the culture and history of the Republic of Sudan.
