What’s interesting at RSUH: Institute of History and Archives

The Institute of History and Archives of RSUH has always been considered the forge of leading experts in its field in Russia and abroad. Its graduates hold high positions in the public service, run museums and work in archives.


The Institute of History and Archives of RSUH has always been considered the forge of leading experts in its field in Russia and abroad. Its graduates hold high positions in the public service, run museums and work in archives.


On the territory of the Institute, you can see the inner masonry of the Kitaigorod Wall, the basement of the 15th century, the chambers of the 17th century and a teremok of the 16-17th centuries.

All tours include access to the largest remaining section of the Kitaigorod Wall.  More information here.

For any additional information for an essay or term paper, you can contact the Library of RSUH. Its collection was begun in 1934, which also included books from the Central Archival Administration of the RSFSR.

The collection included:

  • a collection of Slavic-Russian handwritten books;
  • about 800 secular printed books;
  • lifetime publications and rare reprints of the 18th-20th centuries;
  • unique book collections of various academic societies,

These books from formed the basis of the Library's Rare Book Collection, which currently exceeds 43,000 volumes.
