Young scholars of RSUH met with Valery Falkov and Sergey Naryshkin

On June 15, in the House of the Russian Historical Society, a meeting was held between Dr. Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RF, Dr. Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the RSH and young historians.

RSUH was represented by Dr. Pavel Alipov, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of History, Dr. Evgenia Dolgova, Associate Professor of the Knorozov Center, Dr. Stepan Reshetnikov, Leading Researcher of the Center for Academic Design, lecturer at the Center “New Russia. History of Post-Soviet Russia”, Mr. Ivan Kulakov, Head of the Department for Organizational Work with Students of the Office of Student Affairs and Dr. Denis Vakarchuk, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Area Studies and Foreign Policy.

The Head of RHS Sergey Naryshkin talked about the importance of supporting historical education, including in the e-space. He also added that today our country was going through an important historical moment, so the demand for young scholars and the competition for intellectual resources was acute.

Mr. Falkov emphasized that historical science was the most important discipline in humanities. He paid special attention to the issue of development of historical science. Thus, the short-term plans of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia include the development of measures to support dissertation councils and increase the authority of Russian academic journals on the international scale.

Mr. Ivan Kulakov spoke about the need to create a new structure within RHS capable of bringing together young historians of various fields.

“This will become an unprecedented all-Russian platform for young historians: scholars, teachers, archivists, museum workers, librarians, archaeologists, employees of the NGO sector,” he said.

Dr. Sergey Naryshkin fully supported the initiative and made a decision to create the Youth Historical Club. He stressed that RIS could become a convenient platform for organizing and developing the initiative.
