On April 7, a regular meeting of the Society "Other Middle Ages" was held on the topic "Language in the work of a medievalist."
The invited speaker was Dr. Oleg Aurov, Academic Director of the Society. He shared his invaluable experience of working with medieval historical sources in Latin and Castilian. The speaker recommended reading the sources in the original language.
Using the example of his own Russian translations of the Visigothic Code, and the History of Spain, Oleg Valentinovich demonstrated what problems researchers may have when translating medieval texts and how to successfully find solutions to these problems.
