On April 9, RSUH became one of the many venues for the annual cultural and educational action "Total Dictation", which was held for the 19th time.Total dictation is an event aimed at generating interest in learning the Russian language and increasing the literacy level of both the native speakers and those who study Russian as a foreign language. In total, 106,380 people wrote the dictation in face-to-face format, of which about 200 participants wrote it at RSUH; 669,128 people wrote it remotely, and 2,880 people took part in it abroad.
The readers this year, in addition to scholars and teachers, were several stars and cultural figures. Ms. Nadezhda Babkina, People's Artist of Russia, Artistic Director of the Moscow State Academic Theater "Russian Song", acted as a text reader at RSUH.
She read an excerpt from the text "The Nine Hundredth" by the Big Book Prize winner Marina Stepnova, which the author wrote specifically for the event.
“The Russian language is part of our vast culture. We live in Russia. The country and, of course, its language unite us all, despite the fact that the country is multinational, diverse, and each nation has its own dialect and culture,” said Nadezhda Georgievna.
The participants were also addressed by the RSUH Vice-Rector Shkarenkov, who noted the importance of the Russian literary language and wished the contestants success.
