On April 14, RSUH hosted a round table "The state and prospects for the development of gastro-tourism in Russia", organized by the Department of Public Relations, Tourism and Hospitality.

The moderator was Dr. Galina Zhurdan, associate professor of the Department.

The participants were leading practitioners in the field of gastro-tourism and gastronomic resources of Russian regions, as well as journalists and representatives of the Association of Small Tourist Cities of Russia.

Ms. Marina Khudokormova, Assistant to the President of the International Ethnogastronomic Center, made a presentation “Experience of the International Ethnogastronomic Center in the Development of Russian Gastronomic Tourism”. She noted that the demand for the gastronomic culture of a region has a positive impact on the development of such industries as agriculture, food and beverage production, restaurant and hotel business.

“One of the trends in the development of gastro-tourism is the demand for uniqueness and authenticity. Goods and services are inextricably related in everyday life, so travel becomes a search for a different experience that differs from the standard everyday life,” emphasized Marina Khudokormova.

She also spoke about the activities of "Gastrocamp", a project in the field of development of territorial gastro-tourism , aimed at creating a regional menu. A team of professional chefs of international level goes on an introductory tour to the food industry centers of the region in order to select local products and create a local menu.

Of particular interest to the participants of the event were works devoted to gastro-tourism in small towns, a collection of culinary stories "Sochi Tastes" and Russian wine-making traditions.

In addition, presentations on the national cuisine of the North Caucasus republics and the role of hotel restaurants in the development of Moscow's gastro-brand were delivered at the Table.
