RSUH was represented by Rector Bezborodov, First Vice-Rector Olga Pavlenko, Advisor to the Rectorate for International Affairs Vera Zabotkina, Dr.Yevgeny Kozhokin, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Foreign Area Studies and Dr. Irina Akimushkina, Professors of the Department of American Studies. They welcomed Mr. Ambassador and emphasized the importance of building partnerships with students, teachers and scientists from Mauritius.
RSUH is one of 12 Russian universities comprising the Russian-African Network University Consortium. We plan to create various courses in English for students from Africa.
The main topics of the negotiations was active cooperation between RSUH and the universities of Mauritius. Students and teachers will be able to attend joint courses, participate in academic exchange programs and go to various international conferences.
“I am very happy to be here at the Russian State University for the Humanities. As the Ambassador of Mauritius to the Russian Federation, I am obliged to make every effort to establish contact between the universities of Mauritius and Russia,” said Mr. Heswar Janke, Ambassador of Mauritius to the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on the further implementation of research in the field of international politics, economics and finance, research in literature and languages. In the future, a range of projects will be determined, to be developed in cooperation between the universities of the two countries.
African universities and, in particular, those Mauritius are considering joint projects on the study of endangered languages, dialects, and the history of slavery. Particularly interesting are the studies of Russian and African literature and the connections between them. Mr. Ambassador also paid special attention to building cooperation with the Center for Applied African Studies of RSUH.
Mauritius is also an attractive tourism spot, so partner universities are also interested in cultural and tourism destinations, the development of hotel management and holding of bilateral events.
