RSUH applicants told about educational programs and career prospects

On February 20, RSUH hosted an Open Door Day, during which applicants got acquainted with the educational programs of the University, learned more about its history and met with the teachers and faculty directors.

Before the start of consultations, tours around the territory of the university were held for everyone. The guests were told that the University is a living monument of history that links the academic heritage of the Shanyavsky Moscow University and Moscow State Institute of History and Archives.

The unique cultural and educational environment of the Museum Center of RSUH unites the Tsvetaev Art Museum and various temporary exhibitions. The museum occupies a separate place and is a platform for students of creative specialties.

The students were welcomed by Vice-Rector Arkhipova. She said that nowadays it is important to carefully choose one’s future specialty.

“It is very important to choose well and get a profession that best suits your abilities, capabilities and desires. There are no incapable people, there are only people who do not work according to their vocation. You will be happy to do the work that you like,” said Nadezhda Ivanovna.

Applicants are facing the difficult task of choosing their future, but RSUH offers a wide range of majors. In 2022, a number of new educational programs have opened, for example, Conflict Management, Area Studies of Russia, Brand Communications in the Advertising Business, Historical Theology of Judaism, and Conservation and Restoration of Monuments of Material Culture.

Humanities provide a wide range of tools that can be used for varied professional activities. Dr. Konacheva, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, said that philosophy graduates, for instance, can build an academic career and realize themselves in the mass media, all thanks to those unique competencies provided by humanities.

“First of all, it is the knowledge that, in the field of both the history of philosophy and the history of culture, make one achieve a fairly high general intellectual level. In addition, there are critical thinking skills, the ability to navigate in an increasingly complex world. And this makes it possible not only to work with ready-made forms of experience, but also to solve new problems,” said Svetlana Alexandrovna.

Dr. Pavel Alipov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History, spoke about the rich heritage of the Institute of History and Archives.

“The tradition of historical education at the Institute goes back over eighty years. In 1931, the Institute of History and Archives was established under the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. Many researchers, whose names personify entire generations of the development of Russian historical science, founded their schools here,” he noted.

Dr. Elena Ershova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Theory and History, spoke about the career prospects of students in creative and art history majors.

“Our graduates work in museums, galleries, as well as other areas related, for example, to antiques or tourism. Some of them go into academics,” said Elena Sergeevna.

Dr. Romashin, Associate Professor of the Department of Archival Studies, noted the importance of the practical side of the educational process. For example, now, in connection with the process of digitalization, the cadre with the skills to work with modern technologies, and who also know the traditions and standards of their professional activities, are in high demand.
