International Mother Language Day, declared by the General Conference of UNESCO on November 17, 1999, has been celebrated every year on February 21 since 2000 with a view to promoting multilingualism, linguistic and cultural diversity. The UN General Assembly supported the decision to create International Mother Language Day and called on the UN member states and the UN Secretariat to contribute to the protection and preservation of all the languages ​​of the peoples of the world.
