German-Russian seminar on the issues of an international accreditation of the master's programs in Bochum (Germany)

On the 29th – 31st of January an international seminar entitled "Features of the German-Russian cooperation in the field of higher education: goals, problems and perspectives" took place at Ruhr University (Bochum city, Germany). The seminar was organized on the initiative of the Ruhr University’s leadership as well as the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of North Rhine - Westphalia.

German-Russian seminar on the issues of an international accreditation of the master's programs in Bochum (Germany)

On the 29th – 31st of January an international seminar entitled "Features of the German-Russian cooperation in the field of higher education: goals, problems and perspectives" took place at Ruhr University (Bochum city, Germany). The seminar was organized on the initiative of the Ruhr University’s leadership as well as the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of North Rhine - Westphalia.

Fundamental issues of joint training programs in the field of natural sciences, engineering sciences and humanities in the context of the procedure of dual certification and the possibilities of joint or mutual accreditation were in the focus of participants’ attention.

From the Russian side the Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Supervision in the field of education and science of the Russian Federation Elena N. Gevorkyan took part in the seminar, as well as representatives of leadership of the leading universities, such as: Southern Federal University, Tomsk State University, the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH), the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University), the Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University, Moscow Aviation Institute (Technical University), Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT), Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (Technological University). At the seminar the RSUH was represented by the vice-rector for research Dmitry P. Bak. The seminar was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of North Rhine - Westphalia, the Agency's quality of education and accreditation of educational programs (AQUAS), as well as the heads of the leading German universities, implementing joint projects with Russian universities.

During the dialogue, it was recognized that the seminar was a platform for the further progress and stimulate the Bologna process in the development of the international German-Russian natural sciences of the master’s degree.

The decision to set up a pilot project (4-5 joint programs) to implement dual certification (the awarding of two certificates to the program’s graduates) was the result of the seminar. The project formed a working group which included representatives of state accreditation services of Russia and the North Rhine - Westphalia, as well as representatives of German and Russian universities (including the RSUH).
