On the 6th of March, 2008, the students and professors of the Russian State University for the Humanities met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the RF Alfredo Perez Bravo.
Mr. Alfredo Perez Bravo met with the rector of the RSUH Efim I. Pivovar before the lecture. During the meeting issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of education and science were discussed. The rector of the RSUH told the high guest about the development of Mexican research in the RSUH, stressing the role of Y.V. Knorozov Mesoamerican center in this process and noting that the Mexican direction is a priority one for the university. The rector of the RSUH and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the RF stressed that many problems are common for Russia and Mexico – as the questions of relations with nationals abroad, migration, environmental and energy problems.
The theme of the meeting of the Ambassador with the students of the University was the "Mexico today". In her opening address, the director of Y.V. Knorozov Mesoamerican center, Galina G. Ershova noted the importance of the meeting as one of the ways for students and professors to draw up a true notion about the culture and customs of Mexico.
Alfredo Perez Bravo told the students about the historical and geographical facts of modern Mexico, about the cultural peculiarities, traditions and customs of the country and the Mexican people, answered the questions of the RSUH’s students.
