On the 1st of December 2008 an International conference "Russian world and Russian history" took place in the Russian State University for the Humanities. Its main themes were as follows: Russian history at the post-Soviet space, Russia's image today, Russians in the modern world.

The meeting was opened with the report of rector of RSUH, Efim I. Pivovar, there he told about the formation of phenomenon of Russian abroad in the XX century and historiography of this question. E.I. Pivovar reminded that at the present time the process of "recurrence" "Russia in expulsion", synthesis of knowledge and cultures of Russia and Russian abroad pass actively.

Also the rector marked "reappearance" of Russian history, directed at the formation of national ideologies, which has place in the former Soviet republics now. Had enumerated the objectives reasons, by which the process had been generated, E.I. Pivovar denoted the potential risk of the history usage in political purposes and called to scientists for constructive science dialogue. E.I. Pivovar noted the extraordinary importance of the joint creation by scientist from Russia and Russian abroad complete, adequate, objective picture of history, which is necessary for the youth's education and enlightenment.
