International Conference “Historical Geography: The Space Of Man Vs Man In Space”

The Conference was held 27-29 January timed to coincide with Dr. Muraviev’s 70^th birthday.  The event was attended by scholars of Russia, CIS and Eastern European countries, the Academy of Sciences and other Russian institutions.

The high point of the forum was the talk given by Dr. Schmidt, member of the Academy, Chair of the Dept of Moscow Studies, doctor honoris causa of RSUH.  The topics discussed at the conference included:

• Traditional issues of the subject
• New topics brought upon the events of the past decade
• Issues of new local history
• Urban studies
• Rural studies
