The presentation took place March 25 as part of Readings in Humanities.  Dr. Bauerkamp showed that the freedom-security interplay has existed since the 19^th century yet the interest to it surged only at the end of the 19^th century, which, in its turn, led to the expansion of security awareness, risk assessment and preventive policy formation.
