On August 28, a round table dedicated to Knowledge Day was held at the House of the Russian Historical Society. Andrei Loginov, Acting Rector of RSUH, took part in the event and spoke about the educational programs in history implemented at the University.
The Chairman of the Russian Historical Society Sergei Naryshkin, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech:
“At all times, the main goal of the school was to prepare young people for a full and creative life in society. However, it is not enough to simply provide them with a necessary amount of applicable knowledge, skills and abilities. It is equally important to instill firm moral guidelines, teach to think independently, and introduce a sense of responsibility for our country.”
He also noted that one of the first major tasks assigned to the Society was participation in the development and public discussion of the historical and cultural school standard. This document was included in the new educational and methodological educational guidelines on Russian history.
The participants of the Table were leading figures in education, rectors of universities that implement historical education programs, professional historians, government representatives, and heads of public and educational organizations.
“The task of the Russian Historical Society and interdepartmental commissions on historical education set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education has been completed. The textbook "History of Russia for Non-Historical Specialties" was prepared and sent to Russian universities for use in the educational process," said Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education and RSUH graduate, during the discussion.
Acting Rector of RSUH Andrei Loginov noted that over the years, the University had developed and implemented a wide range of tracks in History. The University's educational programs allow students to obtain fundamental and applied knowledge of history, from ancient civilizations to modern international relations.
"Training professional historians is one of the fortes of RSUH. We offer nine tracks for bachelors, seven for masters, in addition to art history, archival science and documentation. We are ready to open new tracks and face the challenges facing historical science,” said the Rector.
