On August 14, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, General Chansamone Chanyalath visited RSUH. The parties discussed possible cooperation between RSUH and Laos in the field of education, in particular, teaching Russian to Laotian specialists and offering classes on information security and foreign area studies, which are in demand in many state agencies of Laos, including the Ministry of Defense.
In her address to Minister, Vice-Rector for Research Olga Pavlenko thanked him for his contribution to the development of humanitarian cooperation and spoke about the University, emphasizing that careful preservation of historical heritage was one of the areas of activity of RSUH.
The purpose of Mr. Chansamone Chanyalath’s visit was to see the former Higher Party School (now RSUH), where he had studied in the past. The Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the CPSU was the highest political educational institution in the USSR, providing training for the CPSU leadership and media workers. It operated in 1939-1978.
Mr. Shmakov, Chairman of the Expert Council on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Russian-Laotian Friendship Society, said:
“Russia and Laos have been long-standing partners since the Soviet times. Diplomatic relations between our countries were established in 1960, and on December 31, 1991, Laos recognized the Russian Federation as the legal successor to the Soviet Union. Our countries have always held very close views on international situation, the situation in the region and the world as a whole.”
The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Office of International Relations of RSUH Dr. Trofimova and Deputy Director of the Museum Center of RSUH Dr. Lavrentyeva.
