At 14th October 2002 at the residence of a French ambassador Claude Blanchemaison in Moscow a solemn ceremony was held. RSUH rector, academician U.N. Afanasyev was presenyed with the Legion of Honour Order, the supreme award of France. The respective edict was signed by the president of France Jaque Chirac at September 2002. The legion of Honour Order was founded by Napoleon I to award military and civil citizens of France and other countries for prominent merits in front of a French nation. Most famous people of France and Europe have been awarded with this Order. The RSUH rector is a second person in new Russia, who was honored with the Legion of Honour Order.
