New book published by RSUH: a selection for the Day of Archives

On March 10, archivists in Russia celebrate their professional holiday. The bookshop "At the Centaur" received textbooks written by the faculty of the Institute of History and Archives and dedicated to the economics of archiving in Russia and business archives in Europe and the USA.

Management and economics of archiving in the Russian Federation

The textbook, authored by Dr. Igor Romashin, Associate Professor of the Department of Archival Studies, is devoted to the organization of the archival management system in Russia. The book describes the current features of the economic activity of the state and municipal archives of the country.

The publication is intended for everyone and can also be used as a teaching aid for students majoring in Document and Archives Management.

Business archives of Europe and the USA: history and modern times

The textbook describes the organization of business archives in Europe and the United States at the beginning of the 21st century, provides analysis of their use as well as factors influencing their development.

The author is Dr. Marina Chichuga, Associate Professor of the Department of Documentation, Audiovisual, Scientific and Technical Archives.

The book focuses on the acquisition and storage of archives, as well as the role of audiovisual documents in business archives.

The book is intended for students majoring in Document and Archives Management and can also be used as part of the course "General History of Archives". The book’s target audience is historians-archivists and anybody interested in the history of foreign archives.

The author of the textbook also spoke about the prospects for the profession of archivist, the experience of working with unique documents, and how and where the knowledge of graduates of the Institute could be applied.
